The Professional Graduate Program in Water Resources Engineering (PPGPEH) is based at the Institute of Natural Resources (IRN) of the Federal University of Itajubá (UNIFEI). The program was launched in 2017 under the name Professional Master’s in Water Resources Engineering (MPEH). In its first four-year evaluation (2017–2020), it received a score of 4, with particular recognition for its highly productive faculty and its student body, which demonstrated good productivity and successful integration into the job market.

In the second four-year evaluation (2021–2024), the program maintained its score of 4, demonstrating its consolidation and relevance. In 2025, it also secured approval for a doctoral program—the first professional doctorate in the Engineering I field in Brazil—further highlighting its relevance and quality. The first cohort of this doctoral program is scheduled to begin in the first semester of 2027.

The program is structured around three areas of concentration: i) Water Systems (SH); ii) Structures and Civil Works (EOC); and iii) Hydroelectric Generation (GH). These areas of concentration and their respective research lines are characterized by their cross-disciplinary nature and complementarity.
